María Benítez Balseiro is an architect with over 20 years of experience in managing complex projects, critical infrastructure and digital transformation in the AEC sector. Specialising in BIM methodology, strategic information management and organisational transformation, she has led multidisciplinary teams and national and international projects in both public and private sector environments.
She is currently President of buildingSMART Spain, an association through which she promotes the adoption of open standards, interoperability and openBIM methodology to advance digitalisation in the construction industry.
Throughout her career, she has contributed to projects of significant technical and organisational complexity, particularly in areas such as scientific infrastructure, defence and public works. She has extensive experience in team coordination, project management and the application of innovative methodologies to improve workflows and collaboration across disciplines.
Her approach combines leadership, technical expertise and change management, promoting a strategic vision of BIM that goes beyond technology to transform processes, collaboration and decision-making within organisations.
