Master’s in Global Smart City Manager
This master’s program is designed within the framework of the Smart City concept, in order to provide the participant with a multidisciplinary approach, while taking into account the emerging technological tools in urban contexts. We train students to become Smart City Managers, who will lead departments of Smart Cities, with the aim of providing coherence to all the initiatives and projects of a city, from a smart and sustainable vision.

In this context, the sustainable development of cities becomes more relevant than ever. The new urban models must be set up with a bigger picture in mind and conceived with more respect towards the citizens and the planet.
The focus of the master’s program is on understanding, projecting and evaluating how the decisions and actions taken in the development of projects and in the usual activity of our organizations, have multiple economic, environmental, social and technological impacts.

In order to manage efficiently a smart city, we need to understand their evolution and plan the next steps strategically. Social innovation, urban resilience, housing and sustainable buildings are some of the topics covered in this block, enhanced by tools such as GIS and BIM.

You will work on different models of sustainable mobility and smart road infrastructures. New technologies and their potential in waste management and industrial symbiosis will be placed into focus when discussing circular economy. Technological infrastructures, such as IoT and 5G, will be introduced as the underlying driving forces of a smart city.

You’ll find out about strategic and legal framework and the available funding programs for a smart city project. You’ll learn how to analyze public-private partnerships and how to transform digitally administrative services. Finally you’ll discuss the subject of open government and how to extract value from data collected in a smart city, focusing on open data and big data.

In master’s final thesis the students will propose a subject, an object of work within the framework of the areas studied in the different subjects of the master’s program.
