Minimize expenses with BIM methodology

How to optimize the budget of a project with BIM methodology? Using BIM methodology implies significant savings when projecting, constructing and operating any type of building or infrastructure project. Various sources consider that this saving can be considered between 10% and 30%. The traditional way of working in the construction sector is characterized by a fundamental fact: decision making is made in the field. Decisions are being made in the middle of the production chain, and in many cases improvisation becomes routine. This fact generates great inefficiencies, from extra costs and risks in quality and security to delays in meeting deadlines. In any type of industry, decisions are never made in the middle of the production chain. Decisions about what and how to manufacture are developed in a prototype, in which the participating agents interact, discuss and decide. And once the decision is made, it is executed: delimiting quality, cost and term.   BIM is not just software The use of the BIM methodology aims to digitize the construction sector, so that it can assimilate the concepts of the manufacturing industry but taking into account the particularity of the construction sector where each project is unique. In addition, we must bear in mind that the sector must respond to the challenges that society is demanding: greater efficiency and sustainability. When we work with BIM, first and foremost, we must set clear objectives about what we want to achieve. Taking into account these objectives, you should devise processes formed by a systematization of tasks that people and machines must perform to minimize any type of improvisation. These machines will use software, where there is a large ecosystem, depending on functionality and manufacturer. Broadly speaking, there is modeling software (they can generate the prototype according to whether they are specialized in building or linear infrastructure), coordination software (they allow analyzing and checking virtual prototypes), planning software, budget software, among many others.   The consolidation on what has to be built is obtained from the result of good coordination. The prototype contains the geometric data and definitions about the project to be built in its full scope. In any case, it is necessary to perform a more dynamic analysis to observe if the projected is constructible and assumable in term and cost. The Virtual Planning with BIM software gives us this possibility: Make decisions on the degree of constructive viability from static prototypes, integration of work equipment, auxiliary means, use of workspaces and storage, deadlines, costs ... Any resulting incidence This analysis allows us to give the appropriate inputs to the members of the design team, thus ensuring the correct specification and iteration in decision making.   BIM planning is key Planning is not to improvise, it is to save, adjust and optimize the management, is to make decisions in a preliminary way. In addition to analyzing the constructive feasibility, the BIM 4D software suite allows us to make a perfect follow-up and readjustment of the planning during the course of the construction stage and obtain all types of metrics. Managing truthful information on a daily basis allows you to optimize and ultimately save. The most important change that the BIM methodology provides is collaborative work, and only in full collaboration will it be possible to take full advantage of the new tools and digital processes.   Do you want to lead BIM implementation processes in infrastructure projects?
