Zigurat Professor Mirbek Bekboliev is One of the Evaluators for the 2020 CanBIM Innovation Spotlight Awards

On November 3, CanBIM will announce the winners of the 2020 CanBIM Innovation Spotlight Awards in seven key categories. Mirbek Bekboliev, the professor of Master’s in Global BIM Management is among the evaluators of this year’s nominees.CanBIM -the short for Canada BIM Council- is a not-for-profit organization that promotes digital transformation in the Canadian building and infrastructure industry. And proper recognition is one of the best ways to pave the way for such change. That’s why CanBIM rewards its members whose work in one distinct project, technology, process, or one assignment or research project stands out. The CanBIM Awards were launched in 2014 and has since brought recognition to many innovative projects and companies. In 2020, the awards program received a record number of submissions and the evaluators will have a hard time deciding on the winning projects. Among them is also Mirbek Bekboliev, Technical Project Manager at BuidlingSMART Germany and the professor of openBIM courses for MEP & Energy Simulation Modules of the Master's in Global BIM Management.Zigurat is an Academic Partner of CanBIM. Currently, CanBIM offers its certification to all Zigurat BIM Management master’s program. That’s why during their studies, all students have a free CanBIM membership and can become a Student Affiliate.As with many large-scale events in 2020, it’s the first time that the CanBIM Innovation Spotlight Awards ceremony is celebrated virtually. The nominees in seven categories have been announced already and the winners will be made known on November 3. The seven categories are: Academic Award is aimed at member students currently enrolled in an academic program related to the industry who display a significant understanding of digital technologies. Due to their status as Student Affiliate, all students of the Zigurat BIM masters programs can also participate in this competition. Construction Management Award is aimed at member contractors who have shown leadership and innovation implementing digital technologies and workflows. Design & Engineering Award is aimed at member architects and engineers who stand out for their leadership through working with digital processes and methodologies in order to improve productivity through the innovative use of technology. Digital Products Award is aimed at CanBIM Member company that has delivered a commercially available technology that improves productivity through digital workflows, processes, or software. Digital Supply Chain & Fabrication Award is aimed at a member company operating within the supply chain, manufacturing, or trades whose innovation efforts in implementing digital technologies and processes to improve productivity stand out. Digitalization Strategy Award is aimed at a member company that has developed and implemented digital technology for internal corporate use that improves productivity on company projects. Project Delivery, Asset Management & Lifecycle Award is aimed at member developers, owners, and facility managers who have been innovative in utilizing digital technologies and processes to improve project delivery and asset management.
