Marzia Bolpagni, a chartered building engineer specialising in digital engineering, has been named the overall winner of the RAEng Engineers Trust Young Engineer of the Year’s competition (out of a total of 5 engineers awarded). This award recognises the potential of UK engineers (either UK citizens or working in the UK) in full-time higher education, research or industrial employment who have demonstrated excellence in the early stage of their career.
In addition to the cash award, this recognition goes together with the awarding of the Sir George Macfarlane Medal, a prestigious prize in memory of Sir George Macfarlane (1916-2007), one of the founding members of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
“I hope this will be a motivation for more young engineers, especially women, to start or continue a career in digital engineering: we need many talented people to make the difference. I am looking forward to continuing working together to shape the future of our sector”, declared Marzia after receiving the award.
