ZIGURAT Institute of Technology took part in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, the leading international event on urban innovation and digital transformation, which gathers top global experts in Barcelona to discuss the future of smart cities. As a Global Education Partner of the Smart Cities Council, ZIGURAT further strengthens its position as a key player in training professionals for a more sustainable, connected and resilient urban future.
On the opening day, faculty members from the Master's in Global Smart City Management, Khaled Daher (Railway Installation General Manager at CAF and Global Thought Leader in Transport & Mobility at the Smart Cities Council) and Guillermo Corral Comeras (Urban Design Lead at MCORM Architecture and Urban Design), represented both ZIGURAT and the Smart Cities Council in the session titled:
“AI & Digital Twins shaping the AECO, Urban and Mobility sectors: Insights from the ZIGURAT Global Master’s in Smart City Management”.
The session explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Twin technology are transforming the entire lifecycle of urban and AECO sector projects — from strategic and integrated planning to smart design, construction and urban mobility.
Through real-world case studies and projects developed within the ZIGURAT Master's in Global Smart City Management, the speakers emphasised the crucial role of education, innovation and sustainability in creating smarter, more efficient and people-centred urban environments.
As Khaled Daher highlighted during his talk, the integration of AI and Digital Twins is not only optimising processes, but also redefining the way we conceive, plan and manage our cities.
With this participation, ZIGURAT reaffirms its commitment to innovative and continuous professional training, promoting a global and interdisciplinary approach to drive digitalisation, sustainability and improved quality of life in the cities of tomorrow.
