ZIGURAT receives the first CIOB accreditation granted in Spain for its Master’s in Global BIM Management in Civil Engineering and GIS

ZIGURAT Institute of Technology has become the first educational institution in Spain to be awarded the prestigious accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), one of the most internationally respected organisations in the construction sector. Specifically, the accredited programme is the Master’s in Global BIM Management in Civil Engineering and GIS.

CIOB auditors travelled from the United Kingdom to ZIGURAT’s headquarters in Barcelona to visit the offices and gain first-hand insight into the institute’s methodology and academic team. The accreditation day also included individual interviews with James Daniel and Mohammad Mayouf, Programme Director and Professor respectively of the Master’s in Global BIM Management in Civil Engineering and GIS.

During the visit, CIOB representatives highlighted ZIGURAT’s innovative, non-traditional educational environment and emphasised the institute’s strong commitment and passion for educational quality in the built environment sector.

An international recognition

CIOB accreditation provides a unique international mark of quality for students of the Master’s in Global BIM Management in Civil Engineering and GIS. It represents a validation of the programme’s rigorous academic standards, educational excellence, and innovative approach, positioning it as a global benchmark in the field.

In attendance were CIOB representatives Antonia Lanyiova, Accreditation Manager & Academic Engagement Leader, and Sean Flynn, Academic Dean at London Metropolitan University, alongside James Daniel and Mohammad Mayouf from the master’s faculty. Representing ZIGURAT were Pau F. Aldomà, CEO; Alessandro Ferrari, Academic Director; Luciana Trucco, Academic Team Leader; Taissa Figueroa, Institutional Manager; and Juliana Escobar, Executive Assistant.

This achievement places the Master’s in Global BIM Management in Civil Engineering and GIS in an exclusive position, as very few programmes worldwide hold this esteemed accreditation. It highlights the exceptional quality and distinctiveness of the training ZIGURAT offers to professionals around the globe.
