Around thirty professionals from the AEC sector gathered in Bogotá for ZIGURAT’s Local Hub to discuss the present and future of BIM and share real-world experiences from the construction field.
This Local Hub — the first to be held in the Colombian capital this year — brought together students, alumni, and professionals for a day focused on digital transformation in construction, the implementation of BIM, and the new skillsets required in today’s rapidly evolving industry.
Thanks to the support of WSP in Colombia and Constructora Colpatria, ZIGURAT’s strategic partners in the country, the event provided a space for networking, professional development and shared learning. Alongside opportunities for connection, the day featured expert talks by Maria Leaños, William Caballero, Erika López Junco, Diego Armando Mayorga Niño, and David Santiago Prieto Guzmán, who offered technical and applied insights based on real case studies from the field.
One of the highlights of the event was the discussion on the Bogotá Metro project, a key infrastructure development aimed at improving urban mobility in the city. Line 1 is currently under construction, and WSP is actively involved in the project, which allowed attendees to gain first-hand insights into its technical and social impact, as well as the challenges of managing large-scale infrastructure in complex urban environments.
This Local Hub — the fifth of the year following events in Barcelona and three across Brazil — forms part of the global network of in-person meetings promoted by ZIGURAT Institute of Technology. The initiative aims to strengthen community ties among students and alumni, while bringing innovation, technical knowledge and professional collaboration opportunities closer to local ecosystems.
As Eugenia Parra, Alumni Manager at ZIGURAT, explains: “At ZIGURAT, we believe in the power of community as a driver of transformation and a global incubator of ideas.”
