The IX Seek and Solve Innovation Meeting, hosted at Valkiria IFF, took place on Tuesday, February 25, and brought together the Innovation and Talent commissions of the [email protected] All in all, two important tendencies that determine the current market were highlighted: first, the gap between the demand and availability of technological profiles, second, the gap between the training and offer available at universities.

Attracting and Retaining Digital Talent

Zigurat’s Program Development Director Marta Riera and the professor of the Global MBA in Digital Business Juan Carlos Gutierrez participated in a round table discussion that focused on the talent in the digital world. As the partner and CTO of Setesca, a consultancy specialized in IT, strategic solutions and headhunting, Juan Carlos Gutierrez had insights to share about the most demanded profiles, e.g. data scientist, data analyst and DevOps engineer, and the reality at the labor market that is marked by the lack of thereof.

The role of Zigurat in this context is to provide training for the C-suite level professionals who want to have a clear understanding of the digital tendencies and talent management.

Dictionary of Digital Occupational Titles

The presentation of DDOT – Dictionary of Digital Occupational Titles – was another prominent moment of the morning. The dictionary lists the profiles that the companies, associations and organizations of Barcelona’s technological ecosystem are most interested in. The exact competencies, the hard and soft skills alike, are also linked to each profile. The role of the Barcelona Digital Talent platform, who validated the questionnaires used to compile the DDOT, was also commented on. The aim is to use the information gathered to predict the market and training needs.

Jordi Arrufí from MWC Barcelona defined two main ingredients of the 4.0 revolution: on the one hand, are the technologies, such as IoT, 5G, Big Data, on the other hand, is the ability to turn their potential into value for a business. As it happens, while technology tends to get cheaper and more accessible, the supply of skills is increasingly scarce.
