For the third year in the row, Zigurat’s BIM portal BIMCommunity, world benchmark, will offer its audiences a meticulous coverage of the infrastructure conference of the year: Bentley’s YII. Bentley’s Year in Infrastructure 2020 Conference is a historic occasion, as for the first time ever the whole event is going to be digital and broadcast online. That means that everyone can join the most prestigious infrastructure event of the year to hear from Bentley Systems and other leading minds in the industry about how this year has been for the infrastructure community and what's new on the innovation front. BIMCommunity and Bentley Systems have a long list of articles, event coverages, and webinars to show for their collaboration history and as of this month, have renewed for another year their relationship as partners. The Year in Infrastructure 2020 Conference will be covered on the social media channels of BIMCommunity and in greater length on the platform itself. To get a glimpse of the magnitude of the past YII conferences and the coverage BIMCo put toward last year, check out the video summary: The Year in Infrastructure agenda proposed for October 20 and 21 is an opportunity to learn about the technologies and best practices in the world of infrastructure design, construction, and operations from the thought leaders and participate in numerous forums and discussions. The conference will kick off with an Executive Perspective session where Greg Bentley, the CEO of Bentley Systems, hosts a discussion panel with leading industry executives on the resilience challenges and the part digital innovation will play in tackling the same. The newest format in the conference is the TwinTalks series that will premiere right after the Executive Perspective. These moderated panel discussions explore, as the name indicates, the implications of digital twins in six critical infrastructure sectors: Digital Cities, Design and Construction, Digital Plants, Energy Utilities, Rail and Transit, and Roads and Bridges. The initial October 20 TwinTalks are each part of a three-part series, scheduled through mid-November. The second day will start with another Executive Perspective session where Keith Bentley and Bhupinder Singh, the founder and CTO of Bentley Systems and the CPO respectively, will go into detail about Bentley’s open strategy for digital twins. As fitting, this session will be followed by an update on iTwins, Bentley’s Open Platform for Digital Twins. In preparation for the infrastructure event of the year, on BIMCommunity, there are available two panel discussions that showcase the recent shifts in the industry and all that is new software-wise. In the first one, Dustin Parkman, the VP of Project Delivery, spoke of ProjectWise collaborative workflows solution in the context of remote working. In the second one, the members of our faculty board Mark Saunders and Ignasi Perez Arnal were joined by Eduardo Lazzarotto, Buildings Director of Product Management for Bentley Systems, Dr. Richard J. Vestner, Senior Director in the Digital Cities business unit of Bentley Systems, to discuss the potential of Legion Simulator. The second day will be concluded with the YII Award Ceremony that celebrates the most compelling projects from 2020. The awards ceremony holds a central place in the history of the conference. This is Bentley’s moment to recognize their software users that have achieved remarkable outcomes in infrastructure project design, engineering, construction, and operations. This year, thanks to the new online format, all the finalists in the 19 proposed award categories will get a chance to present their projects starting on October 5. The winners will be announced in a global live broadcast ceremony on October 21. Zigurat is proud to announce that Wagner Carvalho, an alumnus of Master’s in Global BIM Management for Infrastructure Projects and now a professor for Master Internacional em BIM Management para Infraestruturas, Engenharia Civil e GIS is nominated for the YII Award in the water & wastewater utilities' category.
