The Internet of Things stands out as the ability to connect objects from our environment in order to quantify them and also act on them.

The fundamental goal of the Global Master in Industrial Internet of Things is to present and use the technologies and tools necessary for the development of IoT solutions applied to the industry. In addition to covering the cybersecurity aspects, the program goes into detail about data collection in the field with PLCs and microcontrollers, processing on the Edge, sending data to the Cloud and representing data in the Cloud.

The program is focused in a completely practical way, following a learning-by-doing model and simulating real-world situations.

In other words, for the coursework, the students can contribute their personal projects or choose one of the projects proposed by the professors. Once the student has chosen the use case that the whole program will work on, all program activities will evolve around this real case study.

Academic Content

Block 1
Business models and Project Management

The program covers everything related to the different business models around the IIoT, such as planning a project, preparing budgets and creating teams.

Block 2
New Paradigm of Architectures

Carry out the project execution. In addition, the activities are proposed collaboratively and in groups to promote the most realistic possible scenarios within IIoT projects.

Block 3
Edge, Connecting Things

Regarding the technical aspects, experiments will be carried out with prototyping elements for data collection in the field, as well as with industrial products such as PLCs for data collection and action on physical systems.

Block 4
Cloud, Visualization & Analytics

Different types of gateways will be seen for the data processing in the Edge, sending data to different Cloud platforms, and non-Cloud, for the storage and subsequent treatment of the data. In addition to covering all aspects related to cybersecurity of all the mentioned elements, basic techniques of analysis of these data and presentation of results for the user of the solutions are also discussed in detail.

Master’s Final Thesis

The Master’s Final Project will be developed progressively throughout the program, but an important space is reserved at the end of the course for the total integration of the elements worked on, in addition to the deliverables for their evaluation.The project’s tutor will offer mentoring sessions for the participants in order to follow up with the performance of the final thesis.
